Siding & Exterior Envelope, Built for the Coast.
Pacific Northwest exposure is hard on building envelopes. Moisture, salt air, and temperature cycling degrade siding, soffit, and fascia faster than most homeowners expect. We replace and rebuild exterior envelope components correctly — from the WRB outward.
Siding Products
We install the right product for the property — climate, substrate condition, and budget all factored in before a material is specified.
Fibre Cement Siding
Durable, moisture-resistant, and suitable for BC coastal exposure. We install Hardie board and comparable fibre cement products — lapped siding, panels, trim boards, and accessories. Proper flashing and WRB integration at every penetration and transition.

Steel & Engineered Siding
Steel siding profiles — board & batten, shake, shiplap, and horizontal lap — offer zero-maintenance performance and a lifetime of protection. EDCO products are American-made and backed by a lifetime warranty. We are an approved EDCO contractor.

Wood Siding & Traditional Profiles
Cedar and wood-based sidings remain a strong choice for the right property. Properly installed with correct clearances, flashings, and paint or stain protection, wood siding performs well and suits heritage and West Coast contemporary homes.

Envelope Work Done Right
The building envelope is the first and most important line of defence against moisture in a BC coastal home.
Water Is the Enemy
Most structural damage in BC homes traces back to water intrusion at the envelope. Correct siding installation — with proper WRB, flashings, and clearances — is the first line of defence.
Correct Sequence Matters
Siding, roofing, flashing, and windows interact. We understand the sequencing and integration points, and we coordinate trades when more than one system is being replaced at the same time.
No Ferry Surcharge
We serve the Southern Gulf Islands and surrounding communities without adding ferry costs to your estimate. What you're estimated is what you pay.
How an Exterior Project Works
From site visit to final caulk line — clearly scoped, clearly communicated at every step.
We inspect the existing envelope, identify moisture damage, document conditions, and scope the full extent of work.
You receive a clear estimate covering materials, labour, and any trade coordination required.
Old siding stripped cleanly, WRB inspected or replaced, substrate repaired where needed.
New siding installed per manufacturer spec and best practice, with correct flashing, trim, and caulking at every transition.
Exterior FAQ
What siding product do you recommend for Gulf Island and coastal BC properties?
It depends on the property and budget. Hardie board is a proven product for coastal exposure. EDCO steel siding is a low-maintenance, long-lasting option for clients who want a modern profile and no ongoing maintenance. We'll walk through the options during the site visit.
Do you replace the WRB (weather-resistant barrier) when you replace siding?
We assess the existing WRB condition as part of the scope. If it's damaged, inadequate, or absent, we include its replacement in the estimate. We don't reinstall siding over compromised WRB.
What happens if you find rot behind the siding?
Concealed rot, moisture damage, or structural deterioration behind the siding layer is a hidden condition and is not included in the base scope. When found during removal, we document it, communicate it, and provide a separate written scope before proceeding.
Can you coordinate the exterior work with a roofing project at the same time?
Yes. We regularly scope roofing and exterior envelope work together and coordinate the sequencing so the two systems are integrated correctly at the eave and transition points.
Ready to protect your exterior?
We'll assess the envelope, identify what needs replacing, and provide a clear written estimate before any work begins.
