One Accountable Team
Great Raven Renovations was founded in 2022 by Chad Belanger. Chad built his trade experience across British Columbia before establishing GRR on the premise that renovation clients deserve written estimates, documented scope changes, and a single contractor who stays accountable for the full job. GRR is based on Salt Spring Island and serves homeowners across the Southern Gulf Islands, Cowichan Valley, Saanich Peninsula, and South Nanaimo.
The name "Great Raven" reflects the local landscape and the cultures of the Coast Salish peoples on whose territory we operate — but our operating posture is straightforward: show up, communicate clearly, build it right, and stand behind the work.
We are not a vague "we do everything" operation, and we're not a narrow specialty shop. We're a broad, organized renovation contractor with the systems to handle complex multi-trade projects and the honesty to tell you when something is outside our scope.

How We Operate
Licensed & Insured
We carry full liability insurance and operate as a licensed, registered business in BC. Ask to see the certificate — we'll send it before the estimate if you want it.
Thorough, Itemized Estimates
Every estimate is written with a confirmed scope — itemized so you can see what each phase covers before you sign anything. The final invoice matches the agreed estimate. Scope changes require a written change order before work proceeds.
Reliable Scheduling
We confirm a start date and material lead times before mobilization. If the schedule shifts, you hear about it before the day we don't show — not after. You're not left waiting on a contractor who doesn't answer.
Workmanship Warranty
Roofing work carries a 10-year workmanship warranty. Renovation projects carry a standard 2-year workmanship warranty, with an optional 5-year upgrade available. All warranty terms are written into the contract — not mentioned verbally and forgotten. If something fails within the warranty period and within scope, we come back and fix it. Material warranties are pass-through from the manufacturer and vary by product.
No Ferry Surcharges
We're island-based. Ferry travel to project sites is built into our operating model — never added to your estimate.
Final Walkthrough
Before the job is closed, we walk the work with you. Anything that doesn't meet the agreed standard gets addressed. You don't release final payment until you're satisfied with what you're signing off on.
